I have cervical dystonia and have a bit of trouble seeing straight ahead when I am walking. Having my dogs on a leash helps ground me and keep me on track, more or less going straight ahead and helps me balance by correcting if I start to trip. But best of all dogs are comforting. When I am in pain at night and restless they snuggle closer. They are a key reason to get up in the morning and get outdoors and enjoy the sun and fresh air and they cheer me up with their enthusiasm for ordinary joys like rolling in the snow or the grass. They embrace life even when I am down.
