This year I am dedicating our participation to Cooper and his resilience through a very difficult 2022. In June, he experienced a very rare spinal injury that paralyzed him completely for 2 weeks and required strength, persistence and resilience on his part to return to a semi normal life. He will never be 100% and won’t be able to go on the long trails with me anymore, but he has learned new life skills and is enjoying our daily walks and small trail hikes. He hasn’t let his experience change his personality and love of life. He is an inspiration to all of us who suddenly had our lives changed by dystonia. I know that I have tried to mimic his outlook on life and further accept the things that I am not able to do due to dystonia and hope his story will bring a smile and inspiration to those who are struggling with the feelings that come with a dystonia diagnosis. (His smile is infectious!)
