Movers & Shakers

Movers & Shakers Do-It-Yourself Events

Turn what you love into meaningful support for the dystonia community.

Movers & Shakers is the DMRF’s grassroots fundraising and awareness program, designed to make it easy—and fun—for individuals and groups to host their own events in support of people living with dystonia.

From trivia nights and pickleball tournaments to block parties, happy hours, walks, or bike rides, Movers & Shakers events are powered by creativity, connection, and community. Every gathering, big or small, helps advance dystonia research, education, advocacy, and support.

To mark the launch of Movers & Shakers and recognize the DMRF’s 50th Anniversary, all 2026 Movers & Shakers DIY fundraising events will receive a 1:1 fundraising match from an anonymous donor—doubling the support you raise during your event.

As a thank-you, event hosts will also receive an official Movers & Shakers t-shirt to wear and share their connection to the cause.

How to Get Involved

Getting started is simple. If you’re interested in hosting a Movers & Shakers event, use the Movers & Shakers Interest Form to let us know where you are in the process—whether you’re brainstorming ideas, actively planning, or almost ready to launch.

Once you submit the form, a member of the DMRF team will follow up to schedule a call or Zoom at a time that works for you. We’ll talk through your ideas, answer questions, and help determine how we can best support your event—no matter what stage you’re at.
