I have been living with dystonia as far as I can remember – at least back to 5th grade. I was playing the mirror game for a class project and kids were laughing at me because I obviously can’t keep my head still so what a mirror I was! I wanted to run and hide but I didn’t know better. I didn’t know what was wrong with me! It’s terrifying living with this and not knowing. I was 23 when I finally got diagnosed with dystonia. I don’t know if I was born with it but it’s been an obstacle my whole life. I’ve been called “bobble head” growing up throughout school. My hope is that in the future there will be more awareness of the disorder, and we can find a cure for all of us that suffer. I’ll never stop fighting though!
