Tributes in honor of Margaret (Meg) Shorten
Margaret (Adabelle) “Meg” Milton Shorten 86, of Franklin Lakes, NJ, died June 28th, 2023. She was with loved ones when she passed peacefully in her sleep.
Born in Kansas City, MO January 31, 1937, Meg graduated from Southwest High School in Kansas City, MO. The family moved to California where she went first to Pasadena City College; then on to graduate, with honors, in 1959 from Redlands University with a BA in English Literature and a minor in Acting. Meg pursued her passion for the fine arts as an Actor in many productions in both the NY metro area, and in local community theatre for over 20 years. Meg had an endless love for reading and served as a volunteer peer advisor, sharing her time, practical experiences and loving, patient heart with others struggling with a Cervical Dystonia diagnosis.
Meg is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Richard, L. Shorten Sr, of Franklin Lakes, NJ; her loving Son and Daughter Richard L. Shorten, Jr. of Redding, CT and Cynthia Shorten of Marblehead, MA, her Daughter-in-law Rachel, and son-in-law- Richard Levine and her beloved Grandchildren. Meg was the devoted daughter of the late Howard and Vera Milton of Blue Springs, MO and is dearly remembered by her brothers George in Arizona and John in California.
